This private tour is a fascinating experience suitable for everyone – a true little adventure in some of Norway’s most stunning fjord landscapes.

Experience Fyksesundet up close

Fyksesundet is a remote fjord arm of the Hardangerfjord, not far from Norheimsund and Øystese. The small village of Botnen, located at the very end of the fjord, can only be reached by boat – and that’s exactly where this tour will take you.

After a fast ride along the main fjord, you’ll turn under the Fyksesund Bridge and enter the narrowest part of the Hardangerfjord. Here, you’ll be surrounded by towering 1000-metre-tall mountains on both sides. Countless waterfalls cascade down the cliffs, and you’ll feel the refreshing spray as the boat gets close.

Along the way, your captain and guide will make stops so you can take in the breathtaking landscape and hear stories about the people who once lived here.

Hiking in Botnen

At the end of Fyksesundet, you’ll go ashore and continue on foot. Here, you’ll experience Botnen up close. Though the village is now abandoned, the cultural landscape shaped by those who lived here over the past 400 years remains as beautiful as ever.

Next, you will hike to a local viewpoint – so make sure to have your camera ready!

The trail climbs 180 metres in elevation, offering insights into how people once lived and survived in this remote location. After about 2 km on a gravel road, you’ll reach Furehagen, a hidden gem that only a few people know about. Get ready for a spectacular view over Fyksesundet and Botnen!

The return to Norheimsund follows the same route.
