Take a trip to the Bu viewpoint and experience the fantastic view of the iconic Hardanger Bridge. Which is not only the longest suspension bridge in Norway but also one of the longest in the world. To make your tour more environmental-friendly, you will travel like a local with a Skyss bus (number 991), which is a public transportation bus.
The Bu viewpoint has a picnic area and toilets. From here you can walk down to the bridge itself and even cross the bridge on a pedestrian lane. After a pleasant time at Bu, jump on the bus back to Eidfjord.
About the Hardangerbrua bridge
Hardanger Bridge was opened in 2013 after 4 years of construction. It connects the municipalities of Ulvik and Eidfjord and replaced an earlier ferry connection between Brimnes and Bruravik.
The Hardangerbrua Bridge is 1.380 metres long and has two driving lanes for cars and one for pedestrians and cyclists. At both ends, there are tunnels with roundabouts leading to the bridge: the Bu tunnel (1.2 kilometres long) and the Vallavik tunnel (7.5 kilometres long).
The towers reach over 200 metres, while the clearance under the bridge is 55 metres. The main span stretches over 1.310 meters, which is 30 metres longer than the main span of the famous Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

The time at the Bu viewpoint varies depending on the departure. Please check your ticket and make sure you catch your bus back to Eidfjord.
Practical information
Meeting point: in Eidfjord – bus stop Eidfjord sentrum. In Bu – Bu terminal. Your bus number is 991.
Please be at the bus stop 15 minutes before departure.
No guiding.
Dogs and other pets: Allowed if there is space and is does not disturb other passengers. Have to be on a leash.
Accessibility: Most buses have a ramp or a lift.
