Most tourists come to Norway for nature, and Eidfjord is unique in this regard. The village is nestled between the Hardangerfjord and the high mountain plateau Hardangervidda, a perfect match for a Norwegian nature centre.

A visit to the Nature Centre is a unique opportunity to dive into the world of Norwegian nature and climate.

The experience starts with a one-of-a-kind panorama film, where fantastic drone shots take you on a journey through the wild Hardanger landscape through the seasons.

A fun museum experience

Next, you are free to explore the exhibition on your own. It is an interactive experience, where you can touch and feel as you walk around the three floors. The centre covers 2.9 billion years of our planet’s history:

From the creation of the landscapes that we know today to how the culture of Hardanger was shaped by nature to modern interactions with the wilderness.

The Norwegian Nature Centre is a must-visit for anyone of all ages who is interested in learning more about nature and the world around them.

Hardangerviddahallen café & restaurant

Across the street from the Nature Centre, you find Hardangerviddahallen, a café and restaurant offering a la carte lunch and dinner, as well as simpler courses such as waffles and cakes.

Why not try a delicious meal sourced from products from the landscape you have just learnt about for lunch?

There is also a small souvenir shop inside the restaurant building.

Please note!

The exhibition is available in the following languages:
Norwegian, English, German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Polish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese and Chinese.
